How to Organize Your Daily Routine

A daily routine is a great way to keep yourself on task. The longer you stick with it, the more each task becomes a habit, and the less you'll have to struggle with motivation. The hard part is developing a routine you can follow every day. Start out with small changes if you have trouble staying on task, and experiment to find out what holds you back.
Figuring out how to create a daily routine that works for you—and how to stick to it—can take some time. What should the perfect daily routine contain? That depends on the individual. You need to figure out what you have to get done and when. But you also need to be honest about your lifestyle, including your bandwidth and time-management abilities, to create a reasonable work routine you can stick to.
Benjamin Franklin's daily routine is the 'hack' everybody's looking for:
Franklin was a morning person and a creature of habit. He got up at the same time every day, worked a set number of hours, and then went to bed at the same time. His schedule included a prep period in the morning, a two-hour lunch, and a hard stop from work at 5 p.m. He worked in two four-hour bursts. As Franklin once wrote, “Lost time is never found again.”
